TOMB PLAYER (2016)




Alignment is our current project; a planet-swapping puzzle game releasing on iOS and Android around June 2017. I've been working closely with the other designers on the puzzles and mechanics of the planets and the creatures' abilities, but most of my time has been spent designing and creating the creatures themselves, which has been my favourite job so far.
Dwell was our second-year game, touted as a psychological horror with minimal gameplay. You played as a Priest in an underground settlement of humans after the world fell to ruin some 500 years prior. His mission was to find the love of his life, a woman who was wrongly exiled out into the endless darkness known only as The Void. Not only was I in charge of the character and creature design on this project, I also had a hand in designing the structure and story of the game as it originally followed multiple narrative paths.
Dark Dawn, a turn-based strategy RPG featuring all-original races and locations. This was our first-year project, and so a lot of mistakes were made. Over-scoping was our biggest issue. Back then we actually thought a team of 8 first-years with zero game development experience could make a 30+ mission game with 36 playable classes and a deep combat system- you can see why there aren't many screenshots of this one. Despite our failures though, we learned a hell of a lot from this project, and since then we've been a lot more practical in our approach to new ideas. What skills do we have as a collective? What we can do versus what we can't. It's much easier to make a game when you know your own limits and what you can do to surpass them.
